THE DENTAL CAMERA

The miniature camera built in at the top of a probe provides an access to any part of the mouth, and the special LED of 3cd provides the light, so that the external light is expendable.

The camera, of course, is connected to a monitor where the dentist can see the teeth much better than with a common mirror, for the image is about 60 times bigger on the screen. But the main advantage is in better communication between the patient and the dentist. The patient, aware of the sick tooth which he can see on the screen, can more easily agree with the dentist’s operation.

The conditions made it very difficult for me to develop this dental camera, for I had to think about sterilization, making a water proof case, steaming up of the lens, design, and a low production price.

After solving all the problems I am able to produce (home made) dental cameras of high quality and good design that most certainly beat the quality of the mass production cameras. I have designed the vacuum machines for the plastic parts, made the necessary casts for plastic, and mastered the technology of cheap separation of pigments for colouring plastic (it is very hard to find good pigments in Yugoslavia).

The miniature size of the camera is solved by the processor’s separation from the main electronic board and placing of it into the head of the probe. The conversion of the video into the RF signal is realized in the mother box, into which I also placed the brightness and RF controls.

At the moment I made the camera, I didn’t know of any similar products in the U.S., but its value is in low production price and a very easy use of that simple technology for the production of the camera for deep underwater cameras (the use of the video chip in distilled water).

If it was required of me, I could independently complete the project for electronic servo control of the underwater camera used in exploring the bottom of the sea, the price of which would be accessible to a wider circle of users (amateur explorers, fishermen, divers, speleologists…).
