Artistic world of Tijana
Dujović Liščević is a world of openness and
closeness, of restrain and relief, a world of emotions in
which the whole environment becomes a "plastic"
experience. It is nothing else but a background for
playing, more precisely, for the art of playing. Tijana's Bicycles, imprisoned in terra cotta and limited by static exhibition space, bring, in artist's own individual way, her personal discoveries of moving through landscapes of life experiences. The revelation of the mystery is weaved in the feeling that the bicycle wheel is the wheel of the time of life. The play of the wire (that emerges from terra cotta) with its own shadow, the play of the paper with oxide that draws on the terra cotta, the play of color red with everything seen, and diving of the wire into the air again - these are all visions of the artist in motion. The complexity of cited groupings, orders, and penetrations are the gifts of the eye in motion. If we look back, we shall notice that even the smallest irregularities in order and small variations in viewing the convex and concave parts of Tijana's compositions, have a remarkably powerful effect in three dimensions. Black-white contrasts with red details (which affect us in the moment as the most intensive red ever seen) accentuate harmony and layered meanings of Tijana's work. There are two aspects of the exposed pieces of work, "here and there": "here" being known and "there" being mysterious, distant, infinite, unknown, and hidden in the metallic spot that all the wheel lines flow into. Anticipation causes disquietude and fear in front of the scene which will meet us at the end of the path of life. The Bicycles of Tijana Dujović Liščević, exhibited in the Cultural Center Gallery and connected in dramatic interrelations seem as tones organized in consistently formed harmonies and sequences. The world made by her hand is, in essence, music weaved in the means of plastic expression. The whole scenery gradually comes to life, because the metaphor (not so impudent as an illusion) only gives a hint that This is That. Led by Tijana's bicycles, we start a journey of revealing the dramatic scenery of our land as well as the clime of our own lives. Building a world that leans on its own reality and has the origin in poetics of her native land, artist's opus becomes attractive to worldwide public which she will approach stepping firmly and become a part of the world's artistic heritage. An extraordinary talent, creativity and devotion to profession are reflected in the work of this artist. We are sure that these virtues will open all the gates of art to Tijana Dujović Liščević. The Bicycles are starting this journey and we believe in them. Marta Vukotić Lazar |
